The Reggio Film Festival has always been sensitive to issues of environmental sustainability for the protection of our Planet. Our planet was the theme of the Reggio Film Festival 18th edition. We therefore warmly welcomed the guidelines for environmental sustainability issued in recent months by Emilia-Romagna Film Commission. In these documents we found what we have believed in for years and what we strive for on a daily basis, not only during the days of the Festival.

In particular, the REGGIO FILM FESTIVAL is committed to these points:

SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

For many years now, the Reggio Film Festival has offered all guests (whether filmmakers, producers, jurors, or protagonists of events and round tables) the first option of arriving in Reggio Emilia by train. Our city has the good fortune with two stations to be well served by this particularly ecological means of transport and we try to take advantage of it.

For the public, the site indicates how to reach the festival venues by public or environmentally friendly means of transport.

PRINTING MATERIALS

There are still paper catalogues and programmes, but in order to reduce their use by the public from year to year, a QR code is present and clearly visible just about everywhere (catalogues, programmes, posters, billboards…) that links to the site where the same information can be found as on the paper versions.

GADGET

For several years we have only produced gadgets with the festival logo (not the edition) so that they can be used from year to year, without any waste. They are also durable and useful items (e.g. cotton T-shirts, cloth bags, biros).

FACILITIES

With the exception of the edition posters, showing the dates and location of the Festival, for several years now all the other materials used to set up the projection room and other venues (sails, under-stage banners, roll-ups, ballot boxes for the popular vote) have only the RFF logo to be used each edition.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

All Festival venues are equipped with containers to handle detailed waste collection. From this year our audience will find containers for: paper and cardboard, plastic, glass and cans, organic waste and residual urban waste. They are appropriately marked and placed in a clearly visible area.

WELCOME

Guests are as far as possible always accommodated in the city centre, so that they can move around on foot and in this way easily reach the festival venues.

FOOD SUSTAINABILITY

The Reggio Film Festival has always preferred to take its guests to venues where they could taste traditional local products. Not only for their quality, but also to encourage the consumption of zero-kilometre products. This year it has added an important collaboration with the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium, which among zero kilometre products is truly the king.

ENVIRONMENTAL CULTURE AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

Each evening before the screening of the short films, a short video about environmental sustainability and waste management will be shown.

TRAINING AND COMMUNICATION

This page, the others on this issue on our socials and the video before the screening will hopefully serve to remind everyone of the importance of the issue.

Earth is the planet that hosts us. Let us take care of it!
